1858 Remington Konverters.  These Converters are to be Used on Steel Frame Guns Only.  No Brass Frames for These Calibers.

You have the Option of Calibers – If the Gun is a .44 cal, You Can Convert it to .45Colt or .45ACP.  If the Gun is a .36cal, the Conversion is to .38sp/.38LC.

The Gated Ring Which Allows you to Load/Unload with the Konverter Installed.  A Frame Modification is Required for the Gated Konverter.  If You Decide to Open the Recoil Shield, You Can Do it Yourself, or Have the Kirst Gunsmith do the Installation for You.

    I ordered the civil war Konverter for my 1858 Uberti just minor dremeling and it fit into my 1858 perfectly. Have yet to fire it but I am looking forward to shooting it. Timing was perfect good job Kirst. The only dremeling I did was on the foot of the rear plate and a little on the edges of the rear plate. I’m pleased with my purchase.

    I bought a gated Kirst Konverter for my 1858 Uberti New Model Army second hand, only to find the return spring for the firing pin had failed. While checking out the Kirst Konverter website I saw where where they offered a Lifetime No B.S. Warranty so I figured what have I got to lose and sure enough as long as I paid the shipping they would fix my converter gate. Long story shorter , they sent me back a brand new gate and when I had some fitting issues and sent them an email Mr. Kirst himself emailed me back and asked me to call him – he had me describe my fit issue and told me exactly what to do and I have been having fun shooting this gun for the last few weeks. Thank You Mr. Kirst, as soon as I can afford it I’m going to be buying another Uberti 1858 with a gated Kirst Konverter

    I have a lovely 44 colt gated conversion for my old pietta 1858. Minor fitting and everything works. Made my own heeled bullets and the thing is a tack driver. The 44 colt cylinder is my favorite I hope there is always a supply.

    I just received my 45LC converter, it took 3 minutes of filing and it is a perfect fit and the action is smooth. I don’t think I could have fit any better. I love my 1858 Remington 45 Colt. I will purchase another converter for my 36 call. next.

    Got the converter and gated ring for a custom 58’ belly gun I wanted to build. Sent the gun in and got the recoil shield cut, basic action job, the barrel cut to 3.5 inches and a new front site dovetailed in. I rounded the butt and cut a finger groove in the grip for my pinky. Refinished with Oxpho-blue. The whole thing was a great project and it turned out great. Talked with the gunsmith twice. All in all the whole experience was well above expectation. Can’t wait to do another project.

    Purchased the 1858 gated cylinder for Pietta1858 sheriff just had to file just a tad on the base plate legs. Took it out after installation and put 50 rds no issues! Fast shipping best customer service. Also have 2 gated 1860 conversions from Kirst! Great product!

    Will it work on a 1858 rem with the 8in barrel

      Kenneth: Yes, the Kirst Konverters work in all barrel lengths. The deciding factor is, who is the manufacturer. Different manufacturers have different specs in the length of the cylinder. AS Uberti and Pietta are the only ones still in production for the last 25 years, these are the ones we design our Konverters to fit. If you are interested in an ejector, the 8″ barrel is perfect. If you have a 5 1/2″ barrel, there will be some adjustments needed to the loading lever latch stud under the end of the barrel. Ejectors are not recommended for shorter than 5 1/2″, but the Konverters will work in any barrel length.
